Lego Monster Fighters - The Swamp Creature 9461

One of the best things about the different themes in the Legoverse is that there are different price points throughout.  One of the newer exclusive themes is Monster Hunters. And the Swamp Creature is the cheapest of the theme. And for less than 7 bucks you get 2 mini figures and a couple neat accessories.  The theme isn't all that original, but it does bring in some cool mini's.
First we have the monster hunters.  In this set it's Frank Rock.  Frank come with his twin guns of fury and two faces to choose from.

I love the detail on the face with the scrapes.

Frank also comes with his Monster Busting swamp boat.
But of course the selling point for this set is the Swamp Creature minifigure.

He also comes with this sea scape thingy.

And again it's the little details I love the best on these mini's
There's really no reason for these scales on the back of the head, they're covered with the helmet, but it's nice to see the detail.

Lego Lord of the Rings - Gandalf Arrives 9469

Reposted from Collector's Crack
I was picking up a prescription at the local Fred Meyers and happen to walk through the Lego aisle and noticed that all the Lord of the Rings sets were on sale.  And I've had my eye on this one small set for sometime.

I really like these little sets and the fact that you get two mini-figures of probably the most desirable characters from Lord of the Rings is a big plus.

First up we have Frodo.  He comes with a big book.  The book can snap shut but it puts a lot of stress on the plastic joints and after I only closed it once it looked like it might come apart.
Frodo comes with two faces. This worried looked and....
smirk.
There's also some nice detailing on the back of the body.

Next up is Gandalf the Grey.  Gandalf comes with only one face, which probably all you need since most of his face is covered by his beard.
There is also some nice detailing on Gandalf's body, but it's covered up by his cape.

You also get one brown horse with the cart.  You can take the middle portion out and have your mini ride in the center or just on top.

Here is the horse and cart.  In the back is a backpack and barrel.  The backpack contains a letter and the barrel is suppose to be full of fireworks. You'll also notice one of the side piece to the cart was damaged. I've since contacted Lego and they replaced the part fairly painlessly.

And there you go.

Character Building - Doctor Who, 11 Doctor Box Set

Reposted from Collector's Crack
God, I'm such a nerd.

I'm a huge Dr.Who fan.  I started watching Dr. Who back in the mid-80's and mostly Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor.  I would stay up late on weekends and watch the old BBC episodes.  By the time I was watching them Tom Baker had retired as the longest reigning reincarnation of the character, but since PBS was a couple years behind in airing the episodes I got to watch most of Tom's run.  When the 4th Doctor reincarnated into the 5th Doctor I kinda lost interest.  Fast forward to now and the current reincarnation of the series.  I was mildly aware that they had brought the series back, but hadn't seen or sought out any shows until I realize that I could stream them on through Netflix. After about 4 episodes of the first season, I was hooked.  I've slowly worked my way through the middle of season 4, ssshh don't spoil it for me.

Anyways I've featured Character Building's mini figures  before.  The only ones you can get in the US are the $1.99 gravity feed assortment imported by JDNA.  But in the UK Character Building is a pretty big brand with multiple licenses for some pretty big properties.  One of the them being Dr. Who.  I couldn't resist picking up the 11 Doctor Box set off of Amazon.

Front of the box
Back of the box
Inside of the box.
Each Doctor comes with it's own DW display base.  I think the Dr. Who blind packs also come with one of these.

Lets have a look at all eleven.

I think my favorite is still the 4th Doctor. Not only because I enjoyed watching him growing up, but he comes with a scarf!! So who's your favorite Dr. Who?
