Mega Bloks SpongeBob Squarepants Series 1 Blind Pack

Oh how the worm turns!  You may remember back a few years ago when Lego held the SpongeBob license. Now Mega Bloks is putting out SpongeBob sets.  I couldn't resist picking up a blind pack.

Here is the insert poster.  With a super secret rare figure possible.  I looked it up it's SpongeBob in his underwear with a pineapple.
Well it' looks like I pulled a rare Karatay SpongeBob. Yeah I had to look it up. I'm not a big SpongeBob fan so it's a little foreign to me.
The figure comes with 11 pieces.  While I'm not always thrilled with MegaBlok's sets, their microfigures always impress me.  The figure has great detailing and movable arms.

Mega Bloks Halo Series 7 blind pack.

I'm a pretty big Halo fan. At least the video game. As far as building sets and Mega Blok Micro Figures not so much. I did pick up a bunch of Series 3 right after Christmas last year for super cheap, but for the most part they just don't appeal to me. But I was walking through the toy aisle and couldn't resist picking up a blind pack from the latest series.

I was pretty happy to pull out one of the rare figures. The UNSC Spartan Mark V with plasma rifle.
And while I'm not big on the Halo figures I did really like the Mega Blok Marvel figures they put out a few years ago. Mainly because of the twelve points of articulation and that the figures are so well done and life like. Plus the detailing is pretty spot on.

Over all this isn't a set I would try to hard to put together, but I wouldn't say I'd never pick up another blind pack.

Microfigure Spotlight - Cyberman - Character Building Series 1 Dr Who Blind Pack

I was looking for a weekend card show that either I totally missed or was at a different mall this month, but I happen into one of the comic/toy stores in the mall and as luck would have it they had Character Building Dr. Who Blind packs.  And not just Series 1, but 2 and 3 as well.  The packs were a buck more than a Lego Minifigure pack, but seeing as these go for 7 to 8 buck on Amazon and ebay I figured I'd bite.  I've really wanted to pick up a few more Character Building Microfigures after I completed their Series 1 set offered in gravity feed dispensers at some of the bigger retailers around town. I ended up picking up 4 Series 1 and one each from Series 2 and 3.  I'll feature those later.  The one thing I did notice though that kind of bothers me is that the micros  you pick up in the blind packs are exactly the same as the micros you get in Character Buildings box sets.  This can be advantageous if you army building, but I really don't need 7 micros of the 11th Doctor.

Anywho, here we have the Cyberman. His first appearance in the Dr. Who series was also the last appearance of the First Doctor.  Interesting history on the Dr. Who series there are many "lost" episodes where the BBC erased master tapes to reuse.  The final episode of the series is one of those lost episodes and sadly is the last appearance of William Hartnell and the first regeneration scene in Dr. Who.

Alright enough of the nerd talk.  Each successive Dr. Who Character Building Blind pack has had a different Cyberman in it.  I love the high detail on the head and decals.

Here's the insert poster. You can see that the Cyberman is a common figure.

Another side view.

And the back.  The other nice thing about all the Doctor Who blind micros is you get the cool Doctor Who DW display base.

cb out.

Character Building - Doctor Who, 11 Doctor Box Set

Reposted from Collector's Crack
God, I'm such a nerd.

I'm a huge Dr.Who fan.  I started watching Dr. Who back in the mid-80's and mostly Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor.  I would stay up late on weekends and watch the old BBC episodes.  By the time I was watching them Tom Baker had retired as the longest reigning reincarnation of the character, but since PBS was a couple years behind in airing the episodes I got to watch most of Tom's run.  When the 4th Doctor reincarnated into the 5th Doctor I kinda lost interest.  Fast forward to now and the current reincarnation of the series.  I was mildly aware that they had brought the series back, but hadn't seen or sought out any shows until I realize that I could stream them on through Netflix. After about 4 episodes of the first season, I was hooked.  I've slowly worked my way through the middle of season 4, ssshh don't spoil it for me.

Anyways I've featured Character Building's mini figures  before.  The only ones you can get in the US are the $1.99 gravity feed assortment imported by JDNA.  But in the UK Character Building is a pretty big brand with multiple licenses for some pretty big properties.  One of the them being Dr. Who.  I couldn't resist picking up the 11 Doctor Box set off of Amazon.

Front of the box
Back of the box
Inside of the box.
Each Doctor comes with it's own DW display base.  I think the Dr. Who blind packs also come with one of these.

Lets have a look at all eleven.

I think my favorite is still the 4th Doctor. Not only because I enjoyed watching him growing up, but he comes with a scarf!! So who's your favorite Dr. Who?
